On the Way to You by Kandi Steiner
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Publishing Date: November 16th, 2017

What makes you happy?

That was the question Emery Reed asked me the day we met, and I couldn’t give him a single answer. I could have said my dog, or my books, or yoga — but I just stared.

And then, I got in his car.

It was crazy to take a road trip with a stranger, but after years of standing still, he was my one-way ticket to a new life, and I wasn’t going to miss it.

We shared the same space, the same car, the same hotel room — and still, we were strangers.

One day we’d be laughing, the next, we wouldn’t speak. Emery was surrounded by impenetrable walls, but I wanted in.

Discovering his journal changed everything.

I read his thoughts, words not meant for anyone’s eyes, and the more I learned about him, the harder I fell. It turned out nothing made Emery Reed happy, and I wanted to change that.

I earned his trust by violating his privacy, and as wrong as it was, it worked — until one entry revealed a darkness I never knew existed, a timer I never knew was ticking.

Suddenly, what made me happy was saving Emery from himself. I just didn’t know if I could.

About the Author:

KandiSteiner.jpg

Kandi Steiner is a Creative Writing and Advertising/Public Relations graduate from the University of Central Florida living in Tampa. Kandi works full time as a social media specialist but also works part-time as a Zumba fitness instructor and blackjack dealer.

Kandi started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of the press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic (like most girls brought up on Disney movies).

When Kandi isn’t working or writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys beach days, movie marathons, live music, craft beer and sweet wine – not necessarily in that order.

Erika Wilde

Erika Wilde (aka Janelle Denison (http://www.janelledenison.com/)) is the USA Today bestselling author of over 50 contemporary romances for multiple print publishers.

So, why the new pen name?

As Janelle Denison, I’ve always written sexy books, but lately, my writing has taken on more erotic elements that I wanted to keep separate for readers because not everyone likes their reading material on the spicier, kinkier side of romance.   However, please be assured that even as Erika Wilde, you will still get an emotionally layered story with characters you’ll care about and fall in love with.   That is always my goal, whether I’m writing straight contemporary romances, or more erotically charged stories.

Currently, I’m working on The Marriage Diaries and making sure that Dean and Jillian enjoy exploring the more erotic side to their marriage.  The series will be on-going, with no foreseeable ending as of right now, for as long as readers want to be voyeurs to Dean and Jillian’s sizzling new relationship.

I’m also planning a spin-off series in the future, featuring the hot military men that work security for Dean at Noble and Associates.  Sign up to receive my newsletter for updates and news!

Where do I even begin?? Rock Solid is part of the Book Boyfriend series, and that series title is so on point right now because Connor Prescott holds the #1 spot on my list of book boyfriends and I don’t see him getting knocked off from there anytime soon. Add in Connor finding out he is a baby daddy and then his reaction is to seriously step up to the plate. Um… hi, I am pretty sure I just died from swooning so hard. Oh, and don’t even get me started on that cover.

Connor Prescott spots Katie while waiting for his flight in the Denver airport. Intrigued by the gorgeous blonde, he is extremely thankful when their flight is cancelled due to the incoming snowstorm, as it gives him the opportunity to find out who she is. Katie, on the other hand, is not having the best day as it is Valentine’s Day and she has just found out that her boyfriend, that she has traveled to see, has been cheating on her. I guess you could say the highlight to her absolutely shitty day is when Connor approaches her while eating dinner at one of the restaurants in the airport terminal. Long story short, the two spend the night together, Katie leaves before Connor wakes up the next morning leaving him with no way of finding her again, and, as a result of that night, Katie becomes pregnant.

Fast forward three years, Katie now has a three year old daughter named Val, and as luck would have it the universe has decided that it is time for Connor Prescott to come back into her life and for her to therefore tell him that he has a daughter.

Oh my god, this book. It is hands down my favorite in the series. I honestly loved every part of this book even the length, which for the rest of the books in this series were just a bit on the short side for me. I loved the flashback in the beginning, detailing how Connor and Katie met and the night they shared together. I loved how Katie found out who Connor was, I won’t spoil it, but it was such a unique way to have them “reconnect” and felt totally natural. I loved how Connor immediately stepped up when he found out about Val. I LOVE Connor in general but I won’t go into too much detail about that. Ok, one thing: Connor isn’t a one night stand kind of guy. Um, is he like a magical unicorn, or something. I LOVED Connor’s relationship with his daughter as well as his relationship when he is with both Katie and Val. Val was adorable and I am so glad that she was a part of the storyline as much as she was. I LOVED that kitchen scene (You will know what I’m talking about when you get to it, trust me 😉). Ugh, I honestly could keep going but you need to actually read this book instead of spending all your time reading my babbling thoughts on it.

Seriously, PICK UP THIS BOOK.
Then, pick up the rest of the series.
You won’t be disappointed.

5 stars

P.S. Thank you Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde for writing this amazing book.
Oh, and Happy Release Day!!

Release Blitz: Spider by Ilsa Madden-Mills

SBPRBanner-Spider-RB.jpg

From Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills comes a new standalone romance about a flawed hero and the woman he can’t forget.

Spider, a sexy and forbidden new standalone, is LIVE!

SPIDER-FINAL-FULL.jpg

Title: Spider
Author: Ilsa Madden-Mills
Publication Date: November 13th, 2017

He calls himself Spider.

I just know him as the sinfully gorgeous guy with eyes of fire that fate places next to me on the airplane.

I didn’t who he really was . . . future rock star . . . my stepbrother.

He kissed me because he thought he’d never see me again. He would.

Everyone warned me about him.

They told me he was careless and ruthless and screwed up.

They said he’d leave me with a hole in my heart.

Maybe I should have listened.

Maybe I should have built a fortress to keep him out.

But I crumbled instead.

They say an unbreakable thread connects those who are destined to meet. If that’s true, then the moment he sat next to me, we were bound together forever.

He just had to figure it out before it’s too late…

Stacking the Shelves [3]

Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews where book lovers share what books they got throughout the week!

E-Books
25681827

Believe it or not, I only paid for two of the e-books above. I pre-ordered The Fortunate Ones and My Week with the Bad Boy both for .99 cents. I received an E-ARC of Rock Solid for review which was AMAZING and my review will be coming. The other seven were completely FREE, thanks to BookBub, author’s newsletter, and Facebook groups.

Page Habit Box

20171102_122019

I also received my first PageHabit box this week which I was super excited about. This is my first book subscription box and I chose this one because I really liked that the author leaves annotations in the book of theirs you receive, that you can choose a specific genre box (I got the romance one), AND that the money for your box is given as a donation to support children’s literacy.

Bookish First
Unknown-1

I received the ARC of The Wedding Date that I won through BookishFirst, which is a website where every Monday they offer new books that you can enter to win a copy of. All you have to do is give your first impressions of the book and you are entered to win it. They also provide you with a first look at the first few chapters to read so you can get a sense of what the book is going to be like. I love this website and have already won two books (Roomies by Christina Lauren is on its way). Check out BookishFirst if you are interested!

More Than Words

And then… I went to brunch with two of my grad school friends yesterday and after we went to a bookstore. So surprising, right? These are the books I picked up at the More Than Words bookstore, which is a great non-profit that employs youth who are either in foster care, court-involved, homeless, or out of school so they can take charge of their lives by taking charge of a business. It is an amazing cause so I had no problem spending my money on these wonderful books.

So, there are all the books I got this week.

Have you guys read any of these books?
What books did you guys get this week?

November TBR

I can’t believe it is already November! That means there are only two more months left of reading in 2017. WHERE DID THE TIME GO?!?!?!

Goodreads Challenge Update

Screen Shot 2017-11-01 at 10.29.37 AM

I am currently on track on my Goodreads Challenge, having read 45 books so far. At the beginning of the year, the overall number of books I wanted to read was 90. As you can see that number has gone WAY down (thank you grad school 😠) and now I am shooting for 55 books. MUCH, more reasonable. I have 10 more books to read by the end of the year, so about five books per month. I definitely think I can make that happen, and who knows maybe I will even read more than that (fingers crossed 🤞 ).

Okay, now onto the books!

A girl can hope though, right?

… is enjoy the ride.

As Kylie and Joe go on the scavenger hunt of their lives, they discover surprising things about each other. Now, the best way for them to get over “that kiss” might just be to replace it with a hundred more.

So OBVIOUSLY, I am anxiously waiting for the fifth book in the Heartbreaker Bay series after reading almost every single one of the other books. This one looks like it is not going to disappoint at all. I mean look at that cover! And… a scavenger hunt for their lives sounds like About That Kiss is going to be just as amazing as all the others.

Book Blitz: Lovers Like Us by Krista & Becca Ritchie

Lovers Like Us

by Krista & Becca Ritchie
Like Us Series #2
Publication Date: October 31, 2017
Genres: New Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Purchase: Amazon | iBooks

Twenty-seven-year-old Farrow Keene lives by his actions, and his actions say he’s the best at whatever he does. As a 24/7 bodyguard and the new boyfriend to Maximoff Hale, protecting the headstrong, alpha billionaire has never been more complicated. And one rule can’t be bent:

Keep your relationship secret from the public.

Farrow is confident he’s the best man for the job. But a twist in Maximoff’s fast-paced life sticks them with the rest of Security Force Omega and their clients.

On the road.
In a sleeper tour bus.
For four rocky months.

Sexual frustrations, check. Road trip drama, check. Awkward bonding, check.

But Farrow couldn’t have accounted for a high-risk threat (identity: unknown) that targets Maximoff before the ignition even turns. And it hits Farrow — someone has it out for the guy he loves.

Every day, Maximoff & Farrow’s feelings grow stronger, and together, they’ll either sink or swim.

Excerpt

Proactively waiting isn’t my thing. I can admit that. So when Farrow unwraps a piece of gum and tugs open the fridge, I ask him, “Need help?”

He chews his gum slowly and glances at me in a way that reminds me he’s twenty-seven. I’m twenty-two, and he’s more than capable to do shit himself.

Farrow starts to smile. “It’s cute that you think I need help getting eggs.” He grabs a carton and kicks the fridge closed.

“You could’ve dropped the fucking eggs.” I’m fighting a stupid battle. And I grimace-smile which makes me want to poke my own eyes out.

Farrow pops his gum. “You mean you would’ve dropped the eggs.”

“Did I? Pretty sure I meant you could’ve.”

Farrow sets the carton by the sink. “I have steadier hands than you.” He leans close and whispers huskily, “You’re not beating me at this.”

I shake my head on instinct. When it comes to Farrow, boyfriend or not, I don’t want to concede that fast. “It’s not proven yet.”

He rolls his eyes into a smile. “Hold out your hand.”

I extend my hand, palm-down. Wondering how he can discern any shake just by sight.

Farrow rotates my wrist. “Like this.” And then he smashes an egg right in my palm.

Don’t smile at him. Don’t smile at him. “Thanks for that,” I say sarcastically, hand dripping in broken eggshell and yolk.

“Anytime.” He laughs, and I act quickly and wipe the runny egg onto his black V-neck, feeling the ridges of his six-pack beneath.

Farrow props his elbows on the sink and actually lets me use his shirt as a towel, even while he’s wearing the thing. Christ.

He’s a Grade A sexy asshole.

Damaged Like Us

by Krista & Becca Ritchie
Like Us #1
Publication Date: June 27, 2017
Genres: New Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Purchase: Amazon | iBooks

Don’t date your bodyguard.
It was the one rule he had to break.

Maximoff Hale is a force of nature. A ship unwilling to be steered. Headstrong, resilient, and wholly responsible — the twenty-two-year-old alpha billionaire can handle his unconventional life. By noon, lunch can turn into a mob of screaming fans. By two, his face is all over the internet.
Born into one of the most famous families in the country, his celebrity status began at birth.

He is certified American royalty.

When he’s assigned a new 24/7 bodyguard, he comes face-to-face with the worst case scenario: being attached to the tattooed, MMA-trained, Yale graduate who’s known for “going rogue” in the security team — and who fills 1/3 of Maximoff’s sexual fantasies.

Twenty-seven-year-old Farrow Keene has one job: protect Maximoff Hale. Flirting, dating, and hot sex falls far, far out of the boundary of his bodyguard duties and into “termination” territory. But when feelings surface, protecting the sexy-as-sin, stubborn celebrity becomes increasingly complicated.

Together, boundaries blur, and being exposed could mean catastrophic consequences for both.
