January TBR 2017

It’s the beginning of a new year which means new reading goals along with this feeling of excitement coursing through my body when I think about all the books I am going to read. This year has already started out so great and it has only been a week. It may be too soon, but I take that as a sign that this year is going to be amazing (and hopefully kick last year’s ass).

With my reading goals set, I have FINALLY been able to settle on a TBR for January. Now remember that feeling of excitement I just mentioned, well it may have influenced me to be a little ambitious about my TBR for this month. My semester doesn’t start until the 20th so I know I have more time read but it seems like I wanted to start this year off with a bang. And by bang, I mean I have a TBR that has 14 books on it!

Now I know I will not be able to read all of these books. There are at least two that I know of that I could read at another time but as always I like to have options. I already know that half of the books on this list are must reads for this month because they are either for one of my class this semester or I am reviewing them on my blog for a blog tour. The others are to fulfill the reading goals I made for the year.

Now that I have rambled enough, let’s get into the books on my January TBR!

*I have organized them into categories so I know which books are for what whether it is class, blog tours, or one of my reading goals*

Books for Review

1. Big Shot by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde
Anything Carly Phillips write I will read. End of story. So excited to review the next book in her new series with Erika Wilde. Also, go read their Dirty Sexy series, you will not regret it!

2. Dirty Dealers by Tia Louise
Bodyguard must protect Queen Regent. Major “The Royals” vibes which I am obsessed with. Can’t wait to read this!

3. Heartbreaker by Stacey Kennedy
Cop romance between rookie and her boss who happens to be a previous one night stand. Immediately thought of “Rookie Blue”. SO excited!

Books for Class

4. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
Classic that I actually have never read. Interested to see if I will like this.

5. Weetzie Bat by Francesca Lia Black
Well-known YA book involving magical realism. Don’t know how I am going to feel about this one….

6. Goodbye Stranger by Rebecca Stead
Adorable middle grade that I have had my eye on for quite some time. Glad I get to read it for class.

Debut Authors

7. Frostblood by Elly Blake
I have heard nothing but amazing things about this. Elly Blake describes it as “fiery heroine versus frost king”. Definitely not like any fantasy I have read yet.

8. You Don’t Know My Name by Kristen Orlando
YA Spy Thriller. That’s all it took to want me to read this.

Library Books

9. Victoria by Daisy Goodwin
Currently reading this. REALLY enjoying it so far. Getting ready for the BBC series that premieres in the US on January 15th. Love my period dramas plus there is a love story 🙂

10. The Troublemaker Next Door by Marie Harte
Currently reading this too. Loving it so far. The McCauley brothers are so adorable and funny. Plus the romance definitely has some sparks.

11. Royally Screwed by Emma Chase
So unbelievably excited that this came in for me at the library. Love my royal romances and LOOK. AT. THAT. COVER. Swoonworthy is an understatement that’s for sure.

Bookshelf TBR

12. Rookie Move by Sarina Bowen
Won this in a giveaway that one of my favorite book blogger was hosting, Jessica @ PeaceLoveBooks. Like Jessica, I LOVE my hockey romances. Can’t wait to get to this one!

13. How to Handle a Heartbreaker by Marie Harte
This is the second book in the McCauley Brothers series. I own books 2-4 and am currently reading the first one. This is one of the series I want to read this year which fulfills my reading goal to read at least 10 new series and fulfills my reading goals to read 30 books off of my bookshelf. Two birds meet one stone.

14. Some Girls Bite by Chloe Neill
Re-read for me. First book in the Chicagoland Vampire series which is on my must reads of this year as the last book comes on in APRIL!! LOVE this series so much, I can’t wait to get back into it 🙂

So… thats my TBR for this month. Ambitious? Probably. But like I said, I like having options.
