Teaser: The Wild Heir by Karina Halle

The Wild Heir
Karina Halle
Release Date: May 17th, 2018

39867123At first glance I probably seem like any good-looking guy in their late twenties. I have an obscene amount of confidence, a tattooed body sculpted by the Nordic gods, and I love the ladies as much as they love me.

If I’m not BASE jumping or car racing, I’m chasing other devious thrills with the woman of the week. And that’s fine if you’re the average single guy.
But I’m not the average single guy.

I’m Crown Prince Magnus of Norway and my latest scandal just landed my entire royal family in hot water.

Now the only way the monarchy can save face is for me to smarten up – publicly. If I don’t, I’ll no longer be heir apparent to the throne. So it’s either I abdicate my future role as King or…
I get married.
To a blue-blooded stranger.

Enter Princess Isabella of the tiny country of Liechtenstein.

Quiet, intelligent, and uniquely beautiful, Ella doesn’t like this arrangement any more than I do and she’s not afraid to show it. She says I’m a womanizer, that I don’t take anything seriously, that my ego should be taken down a few pegs, and I think she aims to make me miserable for the rest of my life.

But even as our arranged marriage becomes a war of wit and words, I’m determined to break through Ella’s prim and proper façade to find the wild, sexual and risk-taking woman underneath. I want to uncover the Queen inside her.

The only question is – will she let me?

**The Wild Heir is a standalone royal romance and a spinoff of The Swedish Prince but it is not necessary to read that book beforehand as The Wild Heir is about different characters**

Top Ten Tuesday [1]: Romance Books with Blue Covers

I am finally doing a Top Ten Tuesday!! I have been wanting to do one FOR SO LONG but between school and work I never had the time to… until now 😁.

ttt-big2

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This week’s topic is: Books With My Favorite Color On the Cover (or In the Title)

So, my favorite color is blue and since I love romance I only thought it would be fitting to do romance books with blue covers. I mean two of my favorite things wrapped up in one package, what could be better than that??

How to Date a Douchebag by Sara Ney
Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas
Addicted by Elle Kennedy
Ball Peen Hammer by Lauren Rowe
Roomies by Christina Lauren
American Queen by Sierra Simone
Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover
Dirty Sexy Saint by Carly Phillips
The Deal by Elle Kennedy
Driving Whiskey Wild by Melissa Foster

Some of these I have read and LOVED.
Some, I haven’t picked up yet but definitely plan to.
Have you read any of these books?

Also, what color did you choose?
OR
What is your favorite color to see on book covers?

You’ll never hear anyone wax poetic over an organ quite like they do the heart.

When you’re lost in the world? Follow your heart.

When your love for someone is unwavering, unparalleled and unprecedented? You give them your heart.

As a lead pediatric cardiac surgeon, I knew better than anyone that the heart is equally as powerful as it is delicate.

The heart giveth just as easily as it taketh away.

And until the day Kelly Potter darkened my doorway that was all just part of the job.

She rolled in like a slow evening storm, fierce and beautiful, fighting for the life of her unborn child.

It should have been business as usual.

I was a doctor.

Her child the patient.

But Kelly was more.

She was the one who got away.

I wouldn’t make the same mistake twice.

It didn’t matter what the rules were.

For once, I was listening to my heart.

Blog Tour: Her Claim by Rebecca Grace Allen

Her Claim
Rebecca Grace Allen
(Legally Bound, #2)
Publication date: April 23rd 2018
Genres: Erotica, Romance

She’s no princess. He’s no prince. Then again, they never wanted a fairy tale.

Legally Bound, Book 2

Cassie Allbright takes no prisoners. A half Cuban ball-busting attorney, she’s too tough to admit what she wants in bed. But tough is the only way to cut it in her high-powered firm, and Cassie doesn’t need a knight in shining armor. And she definitely doesn’t need Patrick Dunham—an arrogant, chauvinistic man-whore with a knack for pissing her off.

Bound to the helm of his family’s publishing house, Patrick is shackled to a life of power and wealth he never wanted. Seduction is his only distraction—his nights of pleasure always temporary, because happily-ever-afters are not for him. But while luring a woman into his bed has always come easy, the high-and-mighty Cassie has never succumbed to his charms.

Their verbal sparring turns to foreplay, but instead of scratching an itch, it only whets their appetites. Patrick gives Cassie a taste of what she’s secretly craved, and Cassie’s dark desires stir up things Patrick never knew he wanted. Enchanted, he offers to fulfill her most dangerous fantasies. She agrees, with an iron-clad escape clause: her heart is off-limits, and so is his.

Funny thing about hearts, though. They have a way of ignoring the fine print.

Warning: This book isn’t for the faint of heart. Disclosure includes angry, vying-for-control hate sex and one steamy weekend in Miami. Ready? Break the caution tape and proceed.

Rebecca Grace allen holds a Bachelor of Arts in English with a double concentration in Creative Writing and Literary Comparison as well as of Master of Science degree in Elementary Education, both of which seemed like good ideas at the time. Excerpt

“I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you,” he said.

Was this still part of the game? It was hard to keep a healthy sense of mistrust in place with his body so close, his breath heated as he kissed her neck.

“Since last week?” she asked.

“Yes.” He kissed her again, grazing the back of her neck before moving to the other side. Cassie shuddered at the feel of his warm skin and beard. “No.”

“You want to clarify that?”

“Longer. Since the night we met. You had on a white blouse with a black jacket and a matching skirt, and I wanted to rip it all off you.”

“You remember what I was wearing?”

“Yes.”

It shouldn’t have made her so happy to hear that, but fuck it. If she were being honest with herself, she’d wanted him that long too.

She reached back to touch him, one hand on his cheek, the other gripping his pants, tugging him closer. “I don’t remember what you wore, but I do know you were off in a corner, flirting with some chick I thought was your girlfriend.”

“I was being Jack’s wingman. Trying to get him out there again.”

“You left with her.”

“Semantics.” He bit down on the tender skin of her neck. Cassie inhaled sharply.

“I didn’t like you,” she said.

“I know.” He went for the back of her dress, leisurely drawing the zipper down. “You were so mad. So obnoxious once you decided what kind of man I was.”

Cassie’s pulse raced as the dress slipped to the floor. “I think I made some kind of comment about you running out of options at your age.”

“You did. See? You piss me off.”

“And you enjoyed that?”

“Fuck yeah. It gave me a reason to piss you off right back.”

He helped her step out of the dress and urged her forward, fingers wrapped around her waist as he turned her around, then shoved her backward until her hips hit the wall. Cassie’s breath caught at the forbidden thrill.

He smiled. “You like that, don’t you.”

Cassie nodded. She did. More than she knew how to say.

She hoped he’d trap her there, that she’d get to feel that implacable grip even more tightly, but he moved in and kissed her roughly instead. When he bit down on her lower lip and sucked it into his mouth, Cassie hissed and gazed up at him. His eyes were open too, and he was smiling around his bite, mirth in his eyes as he let go and pulled back.

“I think you like that too.”

“What?”

“Biting.”

Roughness. Aggression. That was what she liked. “I might.”

“I picked that up last time.” There was meanness to his expression, a taunting, sinister flash in his eyes. “I wish you’d told me beforehand, but I guess that’s going to be part of the fun with us, isn’t it?”

“What is?”

“Finding the right button to push.” Shifting to her side, Patrick palmed her belly. His hand dipped down until his fingers teased the edge of her panties. “Then pushing it harder.”

Blog Tour: Half A World Away by Sue Haasler

Welcome to my stop on the tour for Half A World Away!

Half A World Away
Author: Sue Haasler
Publisher: The Dome Press
Publication Date: April 12, 2018
Half A World Away bcEast Berlin, 1987.

Charming and talented Alex dreams of becoming a professional saxophonist while working long hours in the family bakery. As Alex’s band becomes more successful, he moves closer to influences considered subversive by a state that has eyes and ears everywhere, and Detlef’s passions threaten to endanger all of them.

Disclaimer: I was planning on having my review up at the time of this posting but, unforeseen circumstances with my course load for my master’s program, the review will be a few days late. Please enjoy the guest post that the author, Sue Haasler, wrote down below and look out for the review in a few days. Also, don’t forget to check out the other stops on this tour.

hawa-blog-tour-poster

Guest Post By Sue Haasler

There’s a scene in the book where Nicky goes to visit the Berlin Wall from the west side, looking at it and thinking about her new East German friends who are at the other side, and how her perception of the East has changed since she got to know them.

I based this on an actual visit I made to West Berlin in 1987 (the year most of the novel is set). A friend and I had gone there for work, and having a bit of time to kill we did what Nicky does and got a U-bahn train to the nearest point to the Wall on our map. We sat by the river as she does, looking at the watchtower and the guards. I remember thinking that the East side did look very forbidding and very alien. I often wonder how I would have felt about it if I’d known that my future husband was there?

Extract:
The street ended abruptly, and there was a river in front of her. It was always lovely to sit by a river in the middle of a city, she thought, as she sat down on a bench, the sleeping child beside her. But was there any other city in the world where the river view came complete with barbed wire and a watchtower? And soldiers very visibly holding guns. She shivered, and it wasn’t just the damp April breeze, or the sight of something that looked like a scene from a war movie. It was the thought of the Wall itself, and how it would have felt to her if she hadn’t already spent two weeks in East Berlin. Across the river, across the Wall, she could see flats and houses, and it looked like a prison camp. But she knew that somewhere over there would be Ute and her friends in the band; and Frau Dannowitz keeping the stairwell of their own apartment block spotless; and the girl with the too-bright eye shadow and the friendly smile who worked in the Apotheke down the road from the flat. There were people going to work, falling in love, having babies, having arguments, playing music. It was just like anywhere else. But there was the Wall and the Iron Curtain and because of that, if you didn’t know any better, it seemed frightening.

The guard on the watchtower was looking at her. Probably thinking she was a typical tourist, there to gaze pityingly upon the imprisoned masses. She wanted to shout out that she was from his side. If she’d been able to make the German phrase for it, she probably would have. So she smiled instead and she could have sworn he smiled back.

It has been a while since I’ve read a paranormal romance, so when I came across Bound to You I decided it was time to re-visit one of my favorite genres. Just reading the synopsis brought back a feeling of nostalgia to a time when I was obsessed with True Blood, Bitten, and the Chicagoland Vampire series.

The one thing that Megan Ross has been looking forward to her whole life is to find her mate. While she has not been like most female alphas and found her mate by her 16th birthday, Megan is hoping that the night of her 18th birthday that will all change. As luck would have she gets her wish, except the mate she has been waiting for doesn’t exactly feel as excited about the match as she does. After a bit of a rocky start getting to know her mate James, Megan is swept away to Canada to start her new life amongst a pack she barely knows, and with a mate who is doing everything in his power to keep his distance.

This was a nice little dip back into paranormal romance for me which I really enjoyed because it made me realize that I need to start reading more PNR books. That being said, I completely connected with Megan and her being a bit of a hopeless romantic when it came to finding her mate. What made it even better for me was that when her and James meet for the first time and they sense that they are each other’s mate, there is no insta-love element involved. Sure, there was definitely insta-lust from both parties even though James tried his hardest not to even acknowledge it existed let alone give into it, but the beginnings of Megan and James’s relationship actually unfolded somewhat normally by them trying to get to know one another. Emphasis on the word trying thanks to James, but that’s besides the point.

Unfortunately, while I did connect with Megan on the hopeless romantic front, I also found her extremely immature at times. She is supposed to be 18, and I know that doesn’t automatically make her super mature, but at times, I honestly thought she was 16. That, and her naivety towards her relationship with James and how it was suppose unfold a certain way based on the ideas she had as a young girl caused me to lose interest from time to time. I also found that there were certain parts of the story that weren’t delved into more, like James’s past and the full story as to why Lucy is living with the pack, leaving me with more questions when I was finished than I would have liked .

Overall, I enjoyed this read. Even though I didn’t end up liking it as much as I thought I would, I still think it is a good book for anyone who likes to read paranormal romances. So, if you are looking for a PNR to read, give this one a try!
